A full cord is the legal standard: 4 ft tall × 4 ft deep × 8 ft long, 128 cubic feet. If you’ve seen “face cords” or “ricks” advertised at lower prices, those are about one-third of a full cord.
The rounds option exists for buyers who want to split their own wood — same cord, same species mix, $150 less.
Buy ahead. Season it yourself.
Firewood comes in three forms:
Green — freshly cut, not yet dry. Lowest price. Seasons in your stack.
Seasoned — air-dried already. Mid-range price.
Kiln-dried — dried in a kiln, ready to burn immediately. Highest price.
We sell green. The trade-off is straightforward: you give the wood time to dry in your own stack, and in exchange you pay less and you know exactly how it was stored.

What is a cord of firewood?
A cord is the legal unit of firewood in Pennsylvania: a stack 4 feet high by 4 feet deep by 8 feet long, 128 cubic feet total.
How much does a cord of firewood cost?
Prices vary by wood type, seasoning, and whether delivery is included. At State College Firewood, a full cord of green hardwood is $350 for rounds (cut to length, not split) or $500 split, with free delivery within 10 miles of our location.
What's the difference between rounds and split?
Rounds are cut to 16–20" length but not split — you split them yourself. Split wood is cut and split, ready to stack. Same cord, same species mix. Rounds save you $150 if you're set up to split your own.
How big are the rounds?
Cut to 16–20" in length. All rounds are under 20" in diameter — no monster pieces to wrestle with.
What species do you deliver?
Central PA mixed hardwoods — the exact mix in a given cord depends on what we’re cutting that week.
Does delivery cost extra?
No. Delivery is included within 10 miles of our location.
How long until the wood is ready to burn?
Green firewood seasons in your stack. Give it time, store it well (off the ground, top covered, sides open to airflow), and it'll be ready to burn. Oak takes longer than maple. If you want a deeper guide on seasoning, send us a note and we'll point you to one.
What's the difference between green firewood and seasoned firewood?
Green firewood is freshly cut and still holds moisture. Seasoned firewood has dried out and is ready to burn. Green costs less because you do the seasoning yourself in your stack at home.
